LCC Crown Hills Community College college in Leicester decided to raise money for SCARD by having a non-uniform day. One of their teachers had lost her brother in a road traffic collision so they really want to do something to raise funds and awareness. Zoe and Anne from SCARD had the privilege of going to meet the group of children who worked really hard on the event and raising the amazing amount they did. They are a lovely group of children.

SCARD were lucky enough to be chosen as one of the Co-ops local causes for 2018 for the Ossett Co-Op and we received just under £10,000. We used the money to produce kiddie signs that can go outside of local schools to try to prevent people from parking outside and also thinking about where they drop off their children outside of the schools. The kiddie signs are outside Holy Trinity school and Dimplewell school both in Ossett.
Zoe and Anne from SCARD went to visit these lovely ladies – they have a creative workshop every Tuesday and they decided that they wanted to make some items for SCARD to sell to help raise some money. They also donated gifts to us for our tombola and raffle. They’re a lovely group of ladies and so creative, we went to say thank you for their support.
Zoe from SCARD attended a volunteer fayre in Wakefield which gave her a chance to meet potential volunteers and to speak to people about the support services SCARD offer. It was also Cuddles’ first public appearance!
We now have a mascot for SCARD – he has a little SCARD t- shirt and on Facebook we asked people to name him. We then put all the names into a box and picked one out – and he is now ‘Cuddles’ which we think is a great name for our mascot. He is always at our events and sits in the SCARD office throughout the day when he is not busy at events!

A national event to persuade people to put their phones away when they are driving. SCARD sent a selection of photos to raise awareness and support the campaign.
One of SCARD’s trustees John and his wife Julie have been making cards and gifts to sell to help raise funds. We’re selling these at our office and also we take them to our events too
Another innovative fundraising idea! We have been selling these used drinks bottles with fairy lights inside for £5 a bottle. We are selling them from our office and when we go to events to help us raise money.
