We have a lovely lady nicknamed ‘The Bunny Lady’, she has been knitting different knitted bunnies for us. They have been raffled off at The Fish Bar in Sheffield. Susan, her husband and staff sell the raffle tickets.
We have had different designs of knitted bunnies over the years and The Bunny lady has given them all names, the photos below show some of the different bunnies we have had. The latest bunny was a Christmas one called ‘Dippy’ this bunny raised a fantastic £106..76, we would like to say thank you to The Bunny lady, Susan and all at The fish bar and all her customers that have bought tickets over the last few years, thank you for your continued support!!
Oakleaf Service of Remembrance is a ceremony in which the names of loved ones are written down on a paper oak leaf and then placed on an altar and read out during the service. Photographs of loved ones are placed around the font and candles are lit.
A commemorative quilt representing the lives of loved ones is hung on display throughout the service.
The service can be seen as the first step towards starting the healing process and gives the bereaved an opportunity to speak with others who are going through their own grieving. It gives a feeling of togetherness, helping to remind people that they are not alone in their grief.
Traditionally, the service is held on the first Sunday after Remembrance Sunday and services are held throughout the country.
The Tobias Crowther Foundation annual ball at Valley parade, a day when we all come together to celebrate, remember and try have a really good evening.
How the Tobias Foundation described the event; We will raise a few quid for the charities but more than that it is all about your presence, being there together. Nearly 280 people will be there having a great time, partying, talking, enjoying the entertainment in Toby’s honour.

The foundation raised £15,000 from this event.
We are a self funded charity which means we apply for funding pots when they come available. We do not always meet the criteria and we may not always recieve all that we apply for due to the amount of bids they receive but we were lucky to be one of the charities/ organisations that were picked by the Rotary Club of Horbury and Ossett Phoenix. We were invited to their presentation yesterday, we were greeted by Horbury Victoria Band which were fantastic. The cakes, buns and biscuits were supplied by Rich and Fancy cupcakes and coffee shop in Horbury, they were delicious. Thank you!!

Unfortunately, the main event couldn’t go ahead as planned due to Storm Amy — the weather was just too wild to get everyone safely in the water.
It’s proved impossible to find another date that suits all our amazing swimmers, so instead we’ll be completing the challenge in smaller groups over the coming weeks.
Our first two brave swimmers hit the water on 5th October — Sally and Nigel.
12th October -8 of our group took to the water for our cold water swim event (Sally and Nigel went last Sunday) The water was 14 degrees but we all survived and felt refreshed after the swim. No storm this week but a touch of fog and a cold early start!
Bowshawe Hall near Wetherby hosted the Lord Lieutenancy Garden Party. The event was attended by representatives of 600 or so Yorkshire charities and Voluntary groups, all of whom had been awarded the Queen Elizabeth ll or King Charles lll award for Voluntary service recently.
The Lord Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, Mr Edmund Anderson CBE personally greeted each representative and gave a speech of recognition for their work.
SCARD were represented by Trustee John Scruby and his daughter Lauren who has worked and volunteered for SCARD and CADD previously. The predicted stormy weather held off throughout the afternoon.
Saturday 7th June 2025, a charity dinner event was organised in memory of Chris.
There was a magician, singer and a comedian and they also had an auction.
They raised a fantastic £4,053.

Saturday 9th November 2024 The Tobias Foundation had their last event for the year. It was THe Tobias Crowther Foundation Ball.

John and his wife attended the ball as a representative of us SCARD and to say thank you to all at The Tobias Foundation for choosing us as one of the charities that they supported in 2024.
The Tobias Crowther Foundation organised several events including firewalking over the past year, and as a result have managed to raise £10,000 for SCARD. The images below show the presentation of the cheque and the firewalking. Many thanks to everyone who took part in the events!
Helen raised £1,000 for us when she completed a skydive in memory of her son Ben. She was joined by 3 of Bens close friends who have all supported her and been fantastic since losing him.
